17th November 2019
A select group of Gifted and Talented students in Science attended a two-day workshop at Texas A & M November 10th, 2019 and November 11th, 2019. They learned about Dairy cows and how genetics influences their milk. Holstein cows are known as the most milk-producing cows, but their milk is low in fat and thus not suitable for cream or cheese making. Students learned about how Genetics influences the cows offspring. Students were able to figure out how recessive traits impact color, size, and temperament in cattle.
